Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Seekrs, why we use it, and your choices.
Last updated: 5 July 2026
1. Who we are
Seekrs ("we", "us", "our") runs the website and app at seekrs.io. We help hikers discover group outdoor events and help organisers publish and manage hikes.
Seekrs Platform Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17286746). Registered office: 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, England, W1W 5PF. Seekrs Platform Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed on Seekrs. Our service providers (such as Supabase, Stripe, and Resend) process data on our behalf as processors, on our instructions.
Questions about this policy: hello@seekrs.io.
2. What data we collect
We may collect and process the following:
- Account data: email address, password (hashed if you sign up with email), display name, username, profile photo (when you upload one in settings), location, experience level, interests you choose to add, and optional health information you declare for hike safety.
- Sign-in with Google: email and name from your Google account when you choose that option. We do not automatically import your Google profile picture; you can upload a photo in your Seekrs settings if you wish.
- Bookings and payments: hikes you book, booking status, tickets, check-in records, and for paid hikes the amounts you paid, refunds, and payment status. We do not store your full card details — payments are handled by Stripe.
- Group waivers: when an organiser requires one, we store that you accepted their waiver text and when you accepted it.
- Organiser and group data: group name, bio, photos, hike listings, follower relationships, and team membership if you host or co-host.
- Communications: emails we send you (confirmations, reminders, updates) and messages you send us.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure the service.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Let you book hikes, receive tickets, and check in on the day.
- Let organisers manage events, rosters, and group pages (including health notes you choose to share for hikes you book).
- Send transactional emails (booking confirmations, reminders, account messages).
- Show appropriate content on public pages (for example, your first name and username on hike pages, according to your profile settings).
- Keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
Where UK GDPR applies, we rely on: contract (providing the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, improving the platform, communicating about your bookings), and consent where required (for example, optional marketing if we offer it in future).
5. Who we share data with
We use trusted service providers to run Seekrs. They process data on our instructions only:
- Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage.
- Stripe: payment processing for paid hikes and payouts to organisers. Stripe also acts as an independent controller for some processing (for example fraud prevention and identity checks on organisers setting up payouts) — see Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Resend: transactional email delivery.
- Google: sign-in with Google (only if you choose it), location/place search where used in the product, and basic account details (email and name) from Google when you sign in that way.
- Mapbox: maps and location features where used in the product.
- Our hosting provider: serving the website and application.
- We do not sell your personal data. Organisers can see information needed to run hikes they host (for example, who booked and check-in status). Group waivers you accept are associated with the relevant organiser’s group.
- We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and Seekrs.
6. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections) as required by UK data protection law.
7. How long we keep data
We keep account and booking data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal, tax, and dispute purposes. Payment and refund records are kept for up to six years to meet tax and accounting obligations. You can request deletion of your account (see section 9). Some records may be kept longer where the law requires it.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and protect the service. We do not use advertising cookies on Seekrs today. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings; blocking essential cookies may prevent you from signing in.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data; object to or restrict certain processing; data portability where applicable; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise your rights, email hello@seekrs.io. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Children
Seekrs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Hikes on the platform may be open to older children when accompanied by a parent or guardian; organiser waivers are separate from this platform policy. Contact us if you believe a child has provided data without appropriate consent.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of Seekrs after changes means you accept the updated policy where the law allows.
